Parents with Young Children ("PYC") is a playgroup/coffee hour that meets every Wednesday morning in the Church Nursery (Undercroft II) from 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m., and on alternate Wednesdays during the summer on the Christ & Holy Trinity playground. The group welcomes parents, grandparents and caregivers with children ages 0-4. PYC provides an opportunity for young children and their families to meet, play, garner peer support and resources for parenting, and form lasting friendships for parents and children. The group sponsors the annual Easter Egg Hunt, supports in the annual Christmas Cookie Exchange and Gifts of the Magi activities, and provides meals and emotional support to expectant mothers confined to bedrest and/or parents with newborns. For purely social purposes, PYC also celebrates Halloween with a costume party, Valentine's Day and Mother's/ Father's Day Teas. A baby equipment lending library and "adopt-a-grandparent" programs are projects the group hopes to launch by 2007. Parents enjoyed their first parents only Cocktail Party in June. The group is chaired by Will and Maryelizabeth McManus at 226-6625.
Mothers With External Careers
This sister group of PYC was formed in the Spring of 2005 to serve parents, but especially the particular needs and interests of mothers or expectant mothers who work outside the home. The group meets monthly on a Saturday morning so that working mothers with young children have the opportunity to attend a playgroup with their children and meet and/or network with other families to share their concerns, resources, challenges, etc. Families are fully welcome and encouraged to participate in all regular PYC functions and special events. For more information, please contact Maryelizabeth McManus at 226-6625. |
