Adult Formation

Sunday Mornings 10:10 a.m. in the Undercroft

One of the strongest ministries at Christ & Holy Trinity is our formation program for adults. Because of our location, we are able to draw on theologians and scholars from New Haven to New York. Our Sunday morning forum which takes place during our children’s programs is a unique time to come together as adults to explore issues of faith. Other offerings which take place throughout the week are also popular. From Bible studies to book groups, we welcome all those on the spiritual journey to come renew, explore and grow in their life of faith. For more information, please email John Branson at jbranson@chtwestport.org

Kerygma Bible Study

Friday Mornings 9:30 a.m. -11:00 a.m. in the Vestry Room

This Bible study led by the rector is open to all people. Kerygma is a Greek word meaning proclamation- speaking or sharing the Truth, telling the story of faith in Jesus Christ that becomes Good News. Since the beginning, the Bible study has used materials developed by the Kerygma Study Program on topics such as: The Bible and Brahm’s Requiem, Discovering the Psalms, The Beatitudes, and the Bible and theology. There is a minimum cost per person to cover the expense of a workbook for each participant. For more information, please contact the Rector, Rev. John Branson at jbranson@chtwestport.org.

Women's Spirituality Group

Through reading, conversation, fellowship, meditation and prayer, we come together to explore and share our spiritual journeys, with the intention of growing in faith and deepening our relationship with God and one another. Our time together begins with centering prayer and discussion and concludes with a potluck supper. We have been gathering on Thursdays at 6:00 p.m., and we concluded our meetings for this season on June 4. The group will begin meeting again after a summer break. We structure our meetings in modules, focusing on a specific theme or topic over several weeks. Hosting rotates among our members and each woman volunteers to lead a module. Between modules we have a movie night, and we sometimes have yoga or meditation instruction. When Women’s Spirituality resumes in the fall, some of the topics to be covered will include the Sandwich Generation, the Homeless, Women in the Bible, Stress and Spirituality, Creating Memoirs, and a Meditation and Yoga Retreat. We are an intergenerational group, and we invite any interested women to participate. Please call the Church Office at 227.0827 if you would like to join us!

Men's Spirituality Group

Sundays 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. in the Brandon Room

The men's spirituality group reads, explores, and discusses topics that have interested the group as a whole.  The group has wide ranging discussions of which the topics are catalysts, but the group is not an intense academic forum. Previous topics have been:  King David, the Gnostic Gospels, the history and development of the Nicene Creed, the history of Islam, and most recently the Book of Revelations.  Good humor, thick skin, honest discussions, and a sense of perspective on being a Christian in the 21st century are most important to thoroughly enjoy this lively group.
