Youth Group MIssion Trip

41 adults and youth have been laboring in Bay St. Louis since Sunday on this year's mission trip. As of Tuesday, the group had almost completed demolishing a house, prepping another for renovation, cleaned dishes, moved dirt, mattresses, lumber, etc.  And it's only Tuesday!  They can't upload pictures yet, but will at least have many to share after the week. Contact Kimberly Andrews if you want to join us for any activity, kandrews@chtwestport.org or 858-9323

Goodbye to Louise

This Sunday is Louise Kalemkerian’s last Sunday with us as our Interim Assistant. Joining us in February, Louise has been a steadying, assuring presence among us with her ready smile, sense of humor and deep faith. We are pleased that she has found here at CHT a spiritual home in which she has wonderfully fed us with her grace and wisdom (and her Armenian cooking!) and nurtured us through her fine preaching, teaching and pastoral care. As Louise goes forth to take up new responsibilities in the Diocese, we offer our great affection and praise for her. She is always welcome at this table at Christ & Holy Trinity. Deo Gratias, Louise!

New Assistant Announced

The Search Committee for the new Assistant to the Rector is delighted to announce that Ms. Kerith Harding will be joining the staff as our next Assistant to the Rector at Christ & Holy Trinity.  Kerith will graduate from Berkeley/Yale Divinity School at the end of May and come “on board” with the Youth Mission Trip to Mississippi at the end of June.  We anticipate Kerith’s moving into the Assistant’s house on Myrtle Avenue in July.  Sponsored by the Diocese of Oregon, Kerith will be ordained to the Deaconate on the 30 of May at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Portland where she served as Director of Youth Ministries for four years.  Prior to those duties, she served as a Community Organizer in the Portland area after work in the film industry in Nashville and Burbank, California.  Kerith graduated from Vanderbilt University and has a Masters of Science in Counselor Education from Portland State University.  She has also worked in a Community Counseling Clinic and as a crisis counseling specialist.  We were attracted to Kerith because of her significant background in youth ministry and keen interest in the spiritual formation of youth, from the very young through Confirmation age.  She is a skilled organizer and will bring significant gifts for the re-shaping of our Church School and Christian education ministry.  Kerith will be ordained a priest in the Episcopal Church (probably at CHT sometime in December) and be a wonderfully creative addition to the staff.  She will work closely with Kimberly Andrews who continues as our Part-time Youth Minister and offer her talents in all aspects of the wider ministry of CHT.

Become a Blood Donor and Save a Life

Donations in the summer are typically low. They need 700 pints each month just for Connecticut hospital patients. If you can help, call 1-800-448-3543 to make an appointment at the Red Cross Donation Center, 596 Westport Avenue, on the Westport-Norwalk line. While the need is great, the supply is sometimes short. Out of the 37% of the population eligible to donate blood, only 5% donate annually.

Gillespie Center Cooks

CHT prepares a meal and serves about 30 people at the Gillespie Center on the first Tuesday, fourth Sunday and fifth Sunday of each month.  You would bring a prepared meal by 4:45 p.m. and be done by 6:00 p.m. The Gillespie Center kitchen serves shelter residents, other homeless people and community families and individuals in need of food. This is a great way for CHT individuals and families to do something meaningful and Gospel inspired.  Contact Wynne Abrams at 227-9210 or Maggie Feczko at 454-4694.

The Gillespie pantry is bare of cereal

For the workers at the Gillespie Center’s community kitchen in Westport the summer has been riddled with worry and fear. The shelves that were once filled with food for the homeless and hungry are now bare. “This is the lowest it’s ever been,” said Jim Barber, who oversees the shelter. Despite many large donations this fall from churches, schools, and other organizations, the need for food continues to outweigh the inventory. Please bring a box of cold cereal to the donation box in the Parish Hall.  Download the CHT Gillspie Center schedule by clicking here

Hospitality at CHT

You may have noticed that our hospitality tables filled with yummy cookies and refreshing drinks that used to be up against the wall are now in the center of the room. This was an idea suggested at a conference attended by folks from our New Member Ministry Team. The conference focused on how to create a more inviting church, and the conveners said that putting tables in the center of the room facilitates more conversation and more mixing and mingling. After worship this morning, we hope you will come downstairs for food and fellowship, look for someone you don’t know and introduce yourself.

Christ & Holy Trinity is Handicap Accessible
You will find our accessible entrance off of our upper parking lot, located on Myrtle Avenue, adjacent to our church offices.

Paging the Nursery...

When you leave your child in the nursery, you will be given a pager. The nursery staff can be in touch with you if needed and, as part of our safe church program, you must return the pager to receive your child.
